Society Of WarriorPoets
There has been much interest of late in the Society of WarriorPoets.
More will be coming on this in the next days and weeks. For now, it is enough to say that we don’t have to look too far to see the great need for authentic men. Routinely men fail to live up to an admirable standard, causing anger, resentment and pain in relationships and society at large. Think: Tiger, Mark Sanford, Ben Roethlisberger and many more. And it’s not just the celebrities who are guilty of this. All of us, as men, fail.
But there is also something in us as men which yearns to be a “real man,” as the common expression goes. There is something better that we can be as men. There is a way of living that isn’t about hiding in relationships and living for our own pleasure. There is real life and fulfillment and honest connection with people. There is a life of meaning beyond our own appetites.
A good friend mentioned to me today that he likes when there is a call for more commitment; devotion in which something significant is required of him because something significant is at stake.
So then, let’s pursue the life we were designed for by our Creator:
- True Identity _ We are made in God’s image.
- Authenticity _ No pretending. Ever.
- Reliance on Christ _ He alone is life.
- Risk _ Renounce passivity. Recover your voice.
