‘I’ll Take My Porn, Thank You’

A guy who calls himself, Johnny Blast, took offense to my post about smart phones and my advice that the way to keep a smart phone smart is to not use it as a vehicle for porn.

His parting shot was “F*** you, I’ll take my porn, thank you.”

i would normally approve his comment, and quote it in full here, but his fascination with the F-bomb precludes me from doing that.

He contends that i am passing judgment on others and acting as one who is “morally superior.”

Plain and simple:  i am not morally superior.  If you want to get technical about it, we are all morally inferior — everyone of us. And, in truth, it’s not about moral superiority — or inferiority, either.

Fortunately, that’s not the point.

i have said here before that when i was looking at porn i really liked it and i didn’t want to give it up.  i totally understand why it’s popular and gaining momentum all the time. The point isn’t that looking at porn makes you a bad person. The point is that looking at porn is the same as drinking poison, but doing it in small enough doses that it doesn’t kill you each time you do it.

There is a life available to us which is much, much better than any promise pornography could make.  Because in the end, pornography cannot deliver; it’s a classic bait and switch.

This is a tone that is struck very well by the ministry xxxchurch. Craig Gross has done a great job of communicating to the porn industry that he isn’t judging them for their profession, but he does have a message that there is something much better than porn available:  real connection with the God of grace and love who made us and knows us.
