Super Bowl Sunday Is Porn Sunday
Graig Gross of XXXChurch is hosting Porn Sunday at his church in Las Vegas on Feb. 6, which is the same day as the NFL Super Bowl. Other churches are invited to participate.
The link is fairly easy to make. Super Bowl weekend and pornography — for that matter, the NFL and pornography — go together.
Last year in Miami, P. Diddy threw a party at a strip club. This year the news outlets have stories saying that there is a shortage of strippers in Dallas in anticipation of the big weekend.
However, XXXChurch is turning the situation on its ear.
Of course Gross, and NFL players such as Jon Kitna and Matt Hasselbeck, are taking all sorts of shots in the press for participating in an anti-porn event. The Blog for Seattle Weekly takes it cheap shot, as does Yahoo Sports writer Michael Silver here.
Like i have been saying: our society has gotten to the point where a man who opposes porn will be ridiculed.
Silver’s reasoning is off, however. On one hand he says porn is degrading to women, then he goes on to defend why it’s really nobody’s business if he wants to watch some.
Nice.
Nevertheless, with all the sex associated with Super Bowl weekend, it’s refreshing to me that somebody is talking about an alternative.
