Accountability Groups

Great post at Breaking Free on the pitfalls of accountability groups.

Not all such groups are doomed to fail, but many are.  i know from experience. Read about it here.

The concept is good, but the execution of the idea often seems riddled with traps for men to fall into.

Many men fall into the “Reputation Trap,” which essentially keeps men from being honest because they don’t want to damage their reputations, whatever those might be. It takes lots of courage to be honest, particularly about sexual sin in the context of a group of church guys who know that looking at porn is wrong.

The best accountability is conversational and it takes place in the context of authentic relationships.
