The guys at XXXChurch tweeted this article the other day and it has been making the rounds on various blogs. It tells an interesting story regarding how big porn is on the internet.

This is a quote from the story, which appeared on the tech site ExtremeTech.

According to Google’s DoubleClick Ad Planner, which tracks users across the web with a cookie, dozens of adult destinations populate the top 500 websites. Xvideos, the largest porn site on the web with 4.4 billion page views per month, is three times the size of CNN or ESPN, and twice the size of Reddit. LiveJasmin isn’t much smaller. YouPorn, Tube8, and Pornhub — they’re all vast, vast sites that dwarf almost everything except the Googles and Facebooks.

And then there’s this:

YouPorn hosts “over 100TB of porn”, and serves “over 100 million” page views per day.

While i don’t grasp many of the more technical aspects of what the article discusses, one thing comes through clearly:  tons of porn is being viewed on line.

This really is not news to most people. What is interesting is that now, from a tech angle, the presence of porn on the internet has been quantified.

The math that strikes me is “100 million page views per day.”  What that tells us is just how much people are being shaped by porn in our culture.  Porn is the dominant influence of our society. And not one of us is better off as a result.

Porn exploits the beauty of women and the sex drives of men for greedy purposes.  The producers want, and receive, money and control.

i used to think i was so free when i looked at porn and fed my addiction.  i was really a slave to it; to the exploiters. The only way to be free is to walk away from it.
