No Porn November Gets Tough
This is the point in No Porn November where the difficulty level increases.
For a guy who is not used to denying his appetite for porn, it starts to get much more difficult when it has been more than two weeks without a look.
Lots of men can gut it out for a couple weeks, but the third week and following is different. This reality gets compounded this week due to Thanksgiving.
Holidays usually trigger all the things that drive a man to porn if that’s his thing. There’s nothing like a family gathering to push your buttons, or to remind you of something from your childhood that you have long tried to forget. It means men are pretty vulnerable. For some it’s like being 8 years old all over again; that tone of voice; that embarrassing story; that look from a family member.
The next thing you know, you’re running to porn or masturbation to take the edge off.
For some, family pain is much more severe and that makes porn all the more likely as a way to medicate your soul.
This means that two things will collide this week: The stress of trying to live up to No Porn November and the family dynamics that often drive us to it in the first place.
Prepare yourself. Get some men in on the act and pray for one another as you head into Thursday. It will be important not just for Thanksgiving but for the next month and a half as the holiday season gets moving with lots of pace. Historically men will indulge quite a bit — perhaps more than average — from Thanksgiving to Christmas and New Year’s.
i know i did back in the day.

Thank you for this very transparent post. May God grant you grace during this week. The grace to know that irregardless of family memories that may spark pain, you are redeemed and that belief in the memory is based on a lie from the enemy of your soul. Hold on to the truth and you will sail through. Open your hand to God’s grace. Rejoice and be thankful. Thank Him for the pain that drove you to Him to begin with.
Peace,
Alexandria
