Slaying The Dragon
Breaking Free, the blog of Covenant Eyes, recently ran an article — accompanied by videos — about Doug Wilson’s thoughts on sex in a secular society.
I haven’t had the 2 hours needed to watch the videos in their entirety. Nevertheless, the commentary on Breaking Free hits some great points.
Wilson is known for his thoughtful and Biblical analysis, so it comes as no surprise that he has good things to share.
Among Wilson’s comments:
Modern culture, he says, is “radically relativistic.” People do not simply behave a certain way for no reason: people shape their sexual ethics based a fundament “religious commitment.” If you believe ultimate reality is infinitely malleable, then sexual ethics are equally malleable.
This is what makes the increase in pornography and the influence of porn culture upon mainstream culture, possible.
And the church at large gets sucked into thinking like this too at times.
Later, Wilson also mentions killing the dragon, which is a phrase we use all the time in Intentional Warriors. Read more about it in the ebook: Intentional Warriors: Fighting For Purity And Freedom In A Sexually Saturated Society.
