Getting Intentional: Intense Battle

God Intrudes

The story of God from Genesis to Revelation is a story of intense battle against evil for the hearts of those whom God created in His image.

Jesus’ birth was opposed; His life was opposed; and He walked a path that was anything but easy. His death by crucifixion was brutal. In some ways then it is fitting because to those who would walk in love and do so in a bold and undomesticated way, refusing to simply play nice, brutality is all the world has to offer.

A path of courageous action against evil, such as that walked by Jesus, will earn more disdain than anything else. After all, don’t we start to resent the intrusion of God after a while?

Seriously, isn’t there a part of you that, if you were honest, would say you want God to leave you alone some of the time — maybe most of the time — to let you do your own thing?

The tame God concept has appeal. Such a God would never insert Himself into your life. But that is not who He is.
